A. Borrowing & Returning:
When borrowing books from the library, readers can find the books they need from the open shelf stacks that can be lent out, and then go to the general borrowing and returning desk on the second floor to handle the procedures of lending with their own library card.
Returning Methods:Readers with borrowed books can go to the borrowing and returning counter on the second floor for returning.
Hours:8:00-22:00
  

B.Self-Checkout:
After finding the books they need from the open shelf stacks, readers can also go to the self-service borrowing and returning machine on the second floor to operate according to the instructions.



C.Entrusted Borrowing:
Entrusted borrowing refers to the online application for cross campus borrowing of books through the OPAC system of the library. At present, the available sites entrusted to borrow involve Jinan Campus Library and Qingdao Campus Library. Please read the following procedures:
Step 1: log in OPAC "MyLib" to search books and submit application for entrusted borrowing.
Step 2: after querying or setting your email address in "My Lib" - "Entrusted Book", you will receive an email about the information of your entrusted borrowing.
Step 3: go to the library on your campus with your official campus card for borrowing procedures.
Step 4: the entrusted borrowing books can be returned to any campus libraryofShandong University.
Important Instructions:
(1) The books entrusted for borrowing from other branch libraries must be in the statusof "Lendable” and “In Stock", whilethe libraryon your campusdoesn’thave the bookyou want to borrowor all the copies of thebookyou want to borrow have been lent out.
(2) Maximum number of books for entrustment is 2 per time.
(3)The validity period of the entrustment application is 2 days. Within the retention period of the entrustment application,if the entrusted book cannot be found for various reasons (such as delayed in transit, taken out by other readers, etc.), the entrustment application will be cancelled. Readers can cancel the entrustment application before it takes effect.
(4) The retention days of entrusted borrowing books are 7 days. Readers should take their official campus card to the branch library of the campus to pick up the book within this time limit. If the time limit is exceeded, the request would be cancelled automatically.
(5) When the number of books borrowedby the reader reaches the maximum number of books he is allowed to borrow, or there are violation records such as overdue books, the readers will not be able to submit the application for entrusted borrowing.
(6)For those who have applied for entrusted borrowing but failed to borrow the book for two times, the right of "entrusted borrowing" will be suspended for 180 days.



D.Renewal:
Before the due date, readers should go to the general borrowing and returning counter on the second floor for renewal procedures, or log on to the library's homepage for renewal.



E.Borrowing Rules:

(1) Readers must borrow books with their own ID card. If their cards are lost, they should report the loss to the ID card center in time. All books that have been lent out before the loss report shall be returned and compensated by the readers themselves.
(2) During lending procedures, readers should check whether the borrowed books have defects, scratches, etc. If there are such cases, they should inform the staff in time, and the staff should make corresponding records. Otherwise, it will be punished in accordance with the relevant provisions if it is found to be stained when returning.
(3) During borrowing and returning procedures, readers should carefully check the information displayed on the computer, such as the name, the number of books to be borrowed and returned, and the title of the book.
(4) Readers are not allowed to take books and periodicals out of the library without going through the borrowing procedures, otherwise they will be treated as stealing books.
(5)Library materials must not be removed or concealed from the library unless they have been checked out. If any library item is concealed or taken out of the librarywith any illegal methodby a readerwithout being checked-out, the misbehavior will berecorded andput into the readers' personal account and it will be reported to the relevant departmentfor corresponding punishment.
(6) Before graduating and leaving the school, readers should take the leave sheet issued by the relevant department to go through the book clearance procedures in the library, otherwise the sheet will not be signed and sealed.

F.Violations:
1. Readers are responsible for returning the borrowed books by the due time. Those who return the books overdue must pay an overdue fee of ¥0.10 per book per day.
2. Readers should keep the books properly. In case of loss, compensation shall be made for replacement of the same edition of books and periodicals, and the processing fee shall be ¥2. If it is really difficult to compensate the same kind of books and periodicals, the following provisions shall apply:
(1)For the loss of a single book published before 1990 (including 1990), compensation shall be 10-20 times of the original price (for earlier publications, compensation could be calculated at 3-5 times of the current price of similar books)
(2) If a single book published after 1990 is lost, the compensation price shall be 3-10 times of the original price.
(3) If the original foreign language books are lost, the compensation shall be 3-10 times of the original price;
(4) If one volumeof the multi-volumebooks is lost, the compensation shall be 3-10 times of thetotal price of the multi-volume books, and the volumes not lost shall still be owned by the library; (5) In case of loss of rare books such as somepreciousreference booksor abookthat is the only existing copy, compensation shall be 10-20 times of the original price;
(6) If a single periodical is lost, compensation shall be made according to the annual price of the journal;
(7) If the loan period is exceeded at the time of compensation, the overdue fee will also be charged.
(8) In case that compensation books and periodicals arefound within one month, the compensation can be refunded by presenting the compensation receipt, and the overdue fee will be charged as required.
3.If the books and periodicals are damaged, annotated, smeared, circled or torn, a fine of 3-10 times of the original price of the damaged books will be imposed depending on the severity of the damage. If the damagecircumstances are serious, a notice of criticism will be given.
4. Library materials must not be removed or concealed from the library unless they have been checked out. If any library item is concealed or taken out of the librarywith any illegal methodby a readerwithout being checked-out, the misbehavior will berecorded andput into the readers' personal account and it will be reported to the relevant departmentfor corresponding punishment. Fines are accessed based on the severity of the damage.
